Sometimes you might get email notifications from your web site or you might see notices when you log-in to your web site that indicate that there are updates available for your web site. You may be wondering exactly WHY those updates aren't already installed - or why you might see those notices for several days. And the reason is related to why your web site is more stable than some others.

In the past year, if you would have installed the latest update to Joomla itself or all the extensions that your web site uses right when they came out, you would have seen problems in your web site that ranged from minor obscure icon display issues to having data lost on your site. A good part of providing you with good service in maintaining your web site is knowing WHEN to install an update and when NOT to install updates. Some of that is just as simple as never installing an update within the first 24 hours (unless it resolved a serioud and significant security issue); however, a good portion of that is knowing the specific extensions, the extension maker and other factors around the extension.

So the next time you see a notice indicating that there is/are update/s avaialble, you can be confident that either the updates are real fresh and we're waiting for others to find the new problems they introduce - OR - the updates don't provide security improvements or other important functionality improvements and will be scheduled for updates as soon as time permits.
